Nastar is a type of Indonesian cookie that is traditionally served during the holiday season. Here is a recipe for how to make nastar at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pineapple jam or marmalade

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Roll the dough into small balls (about the size of a cherry) and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Use your thumb or a small spoon to create an indentation in the center of each ball.
  5. Fill each indentation with about 1 teaspoon of pineapple jam or marmalade.
  6. Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes, or until they are lightly golden.
  7. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
